Ryan Mercer is a lifelong DIYer and weekend woodworker who's bought into (and out of) enough cordless platforms to know which tools earn their place. He compiles The Cordless Workshop's recommendations from specs, platform compatibility, and the consensus of people who actually use the tools.
I'm Ryan. I grew up around tools and I've spent twenty-odd years doing my own renovations, deck builds, furniture, and the endless repairs an old house throws at you. Over that time I've bought into battery platforms, regretted a few of those calls, sold off kits, and rebuilt my workshop more than once — so I know exactly how much the platform decision matters and how much marketing gets in the way of it.
I started The Cordless Workshop because power-tool advice is either affiliate filler or written for pro contractors, when most of us are DIYers trying to figure out whether to commit to DeWalt or Milwaukee for a home workshop.
Here's the honest version of what this is: I don't run a testing lab. Every recommendation comes from comparing specs and platforms, knowing how the battery systems lock together, and paying close attention to what people who've actually used these tools for years report — checked against my own time in the workshop. No hype, no invented testing, just researched picks from someone who's already made the expensive mistakes.
